Negotiate Like A Rockstar – A Question That Makes It Possible

A lot of people in the media, and some everyday people, really aren’t in search of the truth. They’re in search of something worse than that. Money, yeah. I think the media’s the kind of a thing where the truth doesn’t win, because it’s no fun. The truth’s no fun.

Actually given the amount of money most rock stars spend, you probably don’t want to have the same negotiation skills as a rock star.

While they may not need to negotiate a better price, I know I do.

Today, I want to share with you a strategy that is been very successful for me when it comes to negotiating – even and locations and stores you would never think possible.

Let me also be upfront and state that I am both an introvert and I dislike conflict. Not exactly championship haggler material. In fact, the idea of negotiating itself was enough to make me quesy.

Did you know you can negotiate the price of goods, even at retail stores home-improvement stores, or national toy store chains?

I want to share with you sentence – an idea – it’ll unlock your capacity to get a better deal in almost every single situation, no matter where you are.

The trick is simply learning to ask a better question.

If you ask the question as a yes or no question, you will probably only get a “yes” or “no” answer. For example, if I ask if I can use this coupon even though it’s expired, the answer will almost always be “no.”

A better question will most likely involve the word: “how.”

Here’s a real life example:

While shopping for a set of stainless steel pots and pans at a national retail store, we found that the particular set we wanted to buy was out of stock.

The only set left was almost $100 more than the price we wanted to pay, and no rain checks were accepted.

So I asked a better question, and got a better deal.

I asked the cashier: “How close can you get us to the price of the set that is out of stock?”

He pressed a few buttons and a price displayed on the register that was another $10 below what we expected to pay for the set on sale in the first place!

All because I asked the better question:

No haggling

No fighting

No arguing

No demanding to see the manager

I simply asked “how?”

I’ve used this same strategy to receive amazing discounts at all sorts of places that you wouldn’t think possible. I know you can do the same.

What are some ways that you use to negotiate?
