Ability is nothing without opportunity. ~ Napoleon Bonaparte
There are two ways to approach times of change and uncertainty: either as opportunities for new ideas and approaches, or as excuses to duck down and avoid getting noticed.
People with creativity and imagination often will thrive and be quite successful, where as those who focus on their own safety remain stagnant.
Here is a pop quiz – what do you see below:
OPPORTUNITYISNOWHERE
Do you see “opportunity is nowhere” or do you see “opportunity is now here”?
The way that we look at opportunity determines how successful we can be.
Now this is not to say that things will be easy, but adopting the attitude of stepping up to a challenge and succeeding will be quite a rewarding experience. As the old adage goes: “when life gives you lemons, made lemonade”…then open up a lemonade stand.
Have you served up some of life’s lemonade recently?
Our perspective definitely impacts how we view things, doesn’t it? This is where coaching can make a big difference – we all need someone at one point or another to come alongside us and point out the opportunities we can’t see in the midst of challenges.
Tom, I can attest to the importance of having a professional coach. I have been on both sides of the equation, and we all need that kind of support.
I’m all about lemonade. The whole premise of my blog, my two books, is about using writing as a form of healing therapy. Great post, Jon.
Thanks Dan – I look forward to learning more from you.
Dealing with life’s struggles and challenges is all about having the right mindset and attitude. When we focus on those areas we will be prepared and able to move forward no matter what happens to us or around us. Great post!
Well said! Looking at what we can change (and moving past what we cannot) is when shift from being victims to making a difference!
Lenonade sounds delicious! I will confess that I read “nowhere” instead of “now here” :-/
Sometimes opportunity is very easy to miss – especially when we are moving fast. Happens to me the most when I am busy.
I read nowhere and immediately I said “NOOO don’t see that, see ‘now here'” I saw them both, but admittedly saw nowhere first. My lemons are showing up as people who want to help me succeed. I am choosing to listen to them, spend time with them, and learn from them. I’m on my way to lemonade stands!
